Based on which type of investor you are, you can include only one of the parts, or simply distribute for example 70% of your capital to the aggressive part and 30% to the conservative part (or vice versa).
And of course, as always, conservative instruments tend to have lower volatility and bring more probable and stable gains, while they tend to hold their value. On the other side, aggressive instruments can bring huge gains, but for a price of huge volatility and possible huge drawdowns.
Both types of these instruments have their own role in portfolios of investors and each of them has advantages as well as disadvantages.
Conservative cryptocurrencies to hold in 2019
This group is made up of conservative cryptocurrencies which are suitable for the "buy and hold" technique in larger cap coins, using a strategy of "set and forget" throughout 2019. These ones tend to hold their value and bring stable gains with an advantage of usually low drawdowns (compared to other cryptocurrencies).
We all know that Bitcoin is and will remain for some time as the true store of value among cryptos. The possibility of having any altcoin surpassing Bitcoin in the short-term is highly unlikely.
2018 was more than a great year for Ethereum (both the platform and the cryptocurrency), and there have been many new products that now use the Ethereum technology, so it is likely that Ethereum will be a go-to for investors in 2019.
Litecoin has been a cryptocurrency that made its way into being a solid asset with a nice platform and tech in it; it is more or less the ‘silver' brand to Bitcoin's gold brand, a last but not least and really worth checking out.
There are already heavy investors supporting Ripple, which proved itself to be a great alternative for financial institutions to make use of and adopt.
Monero and Bitcoin Cash
Last but not least; Monero and Bitcoin Cash have been making their way steady and safely without being bothered, delivering the feeling of trust to those who just look to the top 30 assets in the marketplace, getting more and more new investors as time goes by.
Aggressive cryptocurrencies for 2019
IOTA had its time being an aggressive opportunity to hold, but now is in a safe place thanks to investors from China having their eyes on it. Actually, IOTA has been one of the greatest choices for many investors to invest in and it’s still a great opportunity to hold on to that may produce huge gains. It is said by many users that IOTA might reach a place among the top 7 cryptocurrencies for 2019.
NEO won't stay behind, 2019 seems like a promising year for this cryptocurrency. Competing with coins like Ethereum, EOS, Cardano and other public cryptocurrencies, applications that were built on its platform and being interconnected in some way have already gained the attention of many.
While they have some odd ways to reach a high position in the crypto market, they do plan with strategy every action they take.
While it might not be finished yet, many users think that EOS will take place competing with Ethereum as it uses an Ethereum like technology on its blockchain. Directed by Dan Larimer, the creator of Steem and Bitshares, EOS gives us a promising project.
Reaching $150 million in less than a week during its ICO, EOS has been the aggressive cryptocurrency that many investors opt to invest in.
Cardano, or ADA which was founded by Ethereum’s co-founder, is in the same track as NEO, EOS, and Ethereum.
But using a third generation technology for its blockchain, it is tied up with EOS as the only two out of the four cryptocurrencies that use this kind of technology. This caught the attention of many investors together with the fact that Cardano focusses on some key elements of this technology that are often ignored by developers of other cryptocurrencies. All this makes Cardano an interesting investment choice for 2019 as well.
